Women believe that there is not gender equality throughout the industry. Studies show that women and minorities are less likely to be promoted to senior positions. Deborah Ascher Barnstone from Sydney, Australia says,"The ratio of men to women was 50-50 in my graduating class at Columbia University in 1992, but today, most of my female classmates have dropped out of the profession." Although many women are passionate about architecture, they drop out due to the stereotype that women cannot pursue such a course.

This chart asks both female and male architects on their view of equality/inequality in architecture.In the top left corner, 82% of male architects think there are equal oppertunities for both gender in architecture. The remaining 18% think otherwise.
In the top right corner, 53% of women architects say they will encourage other females to start a career in architecture. Only half of all female architects say they will encourage others while the other half is unsure or will not.
In the bottom left corner, about half of female architects are unsure or think the training system is a disadvantage to women.
In the bottom right corner, 60% of female architects believe that the industry has not fully accepted women. Thats over half! 16% are unsure, and only 24% think that it is accepting.
